More apartments on way
Source: Odessa American, TexasSept.迷你倉 07--The Odessa Planning and Zoning Commission has given a Dallas-based company permission to begin construction on a 260-unit apartment complex in east Odessa.During its Thursday meeting at Odessa City Hall, the commission gave Legado Ranch Apartments permission to begin building its new complex off of La Cruz Court and Parks Legado Road, Director of Planning Randy Brinlee said. The complex is scheduled to be built near the Tuscany at Faudree apartment complex and a "multi-family residential development under construction to the north," the zoning board's agenda stated.Brinlee said he wasn't sure when construction would start, but added he expected Legado Ranch Apartments to obtain the building permits within the next week.Guy Andrews, the Odessa Chamber of Commerce's executive director of economic development, said there are currently 92 apartment complexes in Odessa, an increase of two from a previous Odessa American report in July that sta儲存倉ed there were 90 complexes."We're still going strong," Andrews said.The new apartment complex comes at a time when average rent in Odessa has reached an all-time high, with prices of a one-bedroom apartment being reported as more expensive than the Dallas/Fort Worth area and almost equal with average rent in Austin.ALN Apartment Data, a database firm that surveys monthly apartment communities, reported the average price for rent in Lubbock in June 2013 was $689; average rent in Abilene was $661; rent for the Dallas/Fort Worth area was $863; and Austin was reported at $985.
